The answer to prayers
Before he ever held drumsticks, Vicente already had rhythm. As he tells it: he grew chubby in mommy Daniele's belly, gave daddy Francisco lots of loving little kicks and loved listening to music.
In October 2023 he arrived, perfectly healthy. No signs, no scares. And ever since, in his family's words, he is
a dream come true, the answer to our prayers and the love of his parents' lives.
Chapter two
The arrival
After two days on oxygen, Vicente had to be intubated at an urgent care clinic, which was not the right place for it. He needed an ICU bed to be transferred, but the only hospital with a pediatric ICU was dealing with the flood. There was no mobile ICU in the city, and no bed. After a few hours, the family found a bed in a neighboring city, and an ambulance too.
- A week in the ICUThe tests said there was no more virus in Vicente's body, but he still could not breathe on his own.
- No diagnosisAfter seeing several specialists, he simply had no diagnosis. The doctor said: “we can't intubate him again, his airways are compromised. Unfortunately, if there is no improvement in the next few days, he may go into respiratory arrest and need a tracheostomy.”
- The purposeNot understanding why they were going through this, his parents decided to ask the only One who could answer. They began a 3-day fast as a purpose before God. That night, reading God's Word, the Lord spoke to them: in the book of Esther, he asked them to place Vicente in his hands and to understand that Vicente was not theirs. For 3 days his mother gave up the doctors' news and the armchair beside his bed to cry out to the Lord, while his father prayed from there. God was working in their hearts and, without knowing it, the Holy Spirit led them to say: let your will be done. If he healed Vicente, they would keep worshiping him. If he chose to take him, they would keep worshiping him too, because they understood that his will is good, perfect and pleasing, even when they don't understand it.

Chapter three
And he walked out healed
After 2 days of this purpose, the parents were called to talk to the doctor. His words: “even though he is not fit to be transferred, the bed registry requires that he be transferred to the family's city.”
Knowing that God was in control of everything, they signed the papers. Then the team came to take him, and one of the doctors asked his mother to sit on the stretcher. Without understanding why, she obeyed. They removed every device from Vicente and placed him in her lap. In that moment the Lord answered: with that act, he told the family that he was giving Vicente's life back.
The tears were uncontrollable. From the doctors, the family heard: “I don't know why we did this, we shouldn't even be able to.” And his mother replied: “you were used by God to bring me the answer.”
Back in the family's city, Vicente was seen by two more ENT doctors. One had no answer, but the last one said: “we don't know how Vicente breathed for 7 months, he is a miracle.” God led them to that hospital because he wanted to give them a testimony.
There was still no improvement and the risks were the same, but they were certain he would live. They were transferred and went through two surgeries, and the hand of the Lord was in every one of them.
At every follow-up, they understand that the procedure is not permanent and that, at any moment, his airways could close and cause respiratory arrest. But they also understand that it is the Lord who gives every breath, every beat of the lungs, and his breathing remains perfect.

Chapter four
A year of life given back
On October 8, 2024, Vicente turned 1 year old. On October 11, 2024, the family shared for the first time “a little of the living testimony that is Vicente”. In the comments, one question kept coming up: what did he have? The answer is on this page.
And from then on came the balloons, the smiles, the first steps and, of course, the first drum set.
Chapter five
God: “I'll give you a gift.”
Vicente: “Amen!”
Even before the hospital, his parents noticed that Vicente loved mini drums, drumsticks, the noise of slamming doors and of cutlery clinking on a plate. He loved clapping his little hands and always kept his eyes on the drums at church.
A month after the hospital, at a church service, the family received a word: “God placed on Vicente's hands the gift of playing the drums. He will not need lessons or teachers. When he plays, people will feel something different. What God poured out on him is heavenly.”
- Age 1Grandpa gave him a plastic drum set. The result surprised everyone.
- Age 2He got an electronic drum kit. And he earned it, because his gift was amazing.
- TodayHis dad and his uncle are gospel singers, and Vicente already plays at their events. Every day he shows more experience, and he is already being invited to play in other states across Brazil.
Today, the game Vicente loves most is playing the drums. Anywhere, with any object, he builds a drum set and starts playing, even at school with his classmates: he gets the whole class to form a band, grab drumsticks and turn pots, plates and everything they find into drums.

Chapter six
A family that keeps growing
